More than a few years ago Google, in its infinite wisdom, decided that the “no follow” attribute would solve the problems with blog comment Spam. This tag however has done little to prevent comment Spam. Although it did penalize legitimate commentors who are typically your most loyal readers.
This lead to the “do follow” movement where bloggers didn’t use or disabled the “no follow” tag. These brave men and women decided to give back to their readers and allow Google and other search engines to follow their comment links.
So what does this have to to with SEO Services which is run by SEO Social Bookmarking?
We are a social network site that is a “do follow” blog and a “do follow” social bookmarking service. The stories that are listed here are submitted by our community. We want to give back to those who have so willingly given themselves.
Most blog platforms have a built in default for the “no follow” code. Wherever there is a link in a comment, search engines will not follow the link as they are crawling the internet, thus not providing backlinks, pingbacks and trackbacks. Its intended purpose was to help stop comment spam, but it doesn’t work. What it does do is remove some of the incentive for readers to contribute to your site by commenting on your posts.
Our blog uses the “do follow” plugin for WordPress by http://www.semiologic.com/software/dofollow/ and the “do follow” trackbacks WordPress plugin by http://www.turkhitbox.com/wordpress-seo/dofollow-trackbacks-plugin.html which allows our users to submit a comment with 1 link but more than that will ban them.
Let me stop you there for just one moment …
For those of you who are planning on dumping tons of useless comments on the sites listed here … Don’t! One thing I can tell you about “do follow” bloggers is that they meticulously comb through all their comments and joyously kill all unworthy comments. Those that leave more than one link in their comments don’t get them published.
Instead of spamming take the time to read the post, and leave a meaningful comment that adds to the conversation. If the blog is really good sign up for the RSS feed and become a regular reader.
Are you trying to get more links to your site? Then consider making thoughtful posts to blogs that allow search engine spiders to follow links in their comments. How can you find those blogs? Well, here comes the good news! This has become very easy, just use the new free service at seo-traffic-guide.de and enter a search term for the topic of the blogs and your email address and in just a few moments you will be mailed the results of your query - very easy!
Use your keywords as name and thus leave a link to your site with your keywords as an anchor. It is essential that you really contribute to the topic as your comments will be considered as Spam else - and that can lead to your comments being ignored on other sites, too!
Thanks for stopping by SEO Services which is run by SEO Social Bookmarking!
